This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

I am usually not someone who will willingly go sit at a coffee shop and do work, but Common Good was EXCELLENT. Their morning buns are the perfect amount of crunch and sugar, and their coffee with cinnamon also hit the spot. Even though their music was a bit loud, I was able to put on some headphones and block it out; I highly recommend this little place!

Breakfast sandwich was hot off the grill with fresh focaccia and tasted fantastic. Pastries were dialed in, light and crispy. The panini my daughter ordered was pretty great. You can tell they've spent some time on the quality and variety of their ingredients. Drinks were perfectly made fresh and quick when ordered. I was only in the shop for 5-10 minutes both times I went in, but at least three of the employees wished me a great day. Their hats looked pretty good too, almost bought one. If I was in Traverse City more often I don't think I'd have a reason to try other coffee shop / bakeries. Looks like there are some good ones around but this ticks every box for a great place to grab a coffee, loaf of bread, or a sandwich.

This bakery is quite the local legend π₯β¨ The moment I walked in, there were about 4β5 groups already lined up for their fresh bread and sandwiches. Of course, I had to try their pesto smoked-chicken sandwich tooβbut personally, Zingermanβs Delicatessen still wins my heart π₯ͺπ

π A Truly Common Good Experience in Traverse City π My wife and I visited from Ohio, and from the moment we stepped into Common Good, we felt welcomedβnot just as customers, but as part of something meaningful. We started with the chicken sandwich, stacked with vibrant heirloom tomatoes and tucked into perfectly toasted artisan bread. The house pickles added the perfect tang, and the chopped salad was crisp, refreshing, and full of flavor. I sipped on a smooth iced coffee that hit the spot. But it didnβt stop there. We enjoyed it so much, we came back for dinnerβand let me tell you, the Amelia Pizza was incredible. Truly good for the soul. Every bite was layered with flavor, warmth, and care. We could feel the intention behind the food. Another favorite moment? Sitting with a hearty Caesar salad, anchovies and all, while soaking in the uplifting energy. One of the team members wore a shirt that said βDo Good, Every Dayββand that spirit echoed through the entire experience. Whether youβre a local or visiting like us, this place is a gem. The care, the craft, the community spiritβitβs all here. Weβre already looking forward to seeing you again next year. From Ohio with loveβke

I stopped by Common Goods and tried their lattes. They were decent β great if you enjoy a medium roast with a slightly acidic finish, not my favorite. I also tried the chocolate flourless cake, it was good but small. However, the lemon raspberry tart was absolutely delicious β bright, fresh, and packed with flavor! Prices are a little on the higher side, but the quality and cozy atmosphere make it worth checking out.
